Managing Water in the Rural-Urban Interface: The Key to Climate Change Resilient Cities

Duration : August 1, 2009 - July 31, 2012
(Extended to January 29, 2013)

The project, Managing water in the urban-rural interface for climate change resilient cities (URAdapt), aims to reduce the vulnerabilities of Accra (Ghana) and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) to climate change scenarios through improved and integrated urban water management. The project places the cities within their broader basin contexts, thereby focusing the research on urban-rural connectivity. URAdapt brings together climate change and water management experts, decision-makers and representatives of vulnerable communities to collectively design adaptation strategies for the water-use sectors in the two cities.
